Strong government support presents significant opportunities for renewable energy development in the UK
- UK government committed to net zero targets by 2050, greater energy independence and a 78% reduction in greenhouse gases by 2035
- Recent Energy Security Strategy re-enforces commitment to increase renewables capacity, particularly solar. The strategy is supportive of community supported onshore wind, wind repowering, co-location of technologies and seeks a five fold increase in solar deployment by 2035.
- Onshore wind and solar now included in government annual CFD auction process
Ortus Power Resources UK
Ortus Power Resources UK (OPR UK) has been evaluating the UK renewables market since 2020 and is now in the process of building a renewable energy platform. OPR UK is developing greenfield solar and wind opportunities in house, is partnering with local developers for additional early-stage opportunities, and is participating in selective opportunities to acquire ready to build (RTB) project portfolios. OPR UK expects the diversified portfolio pipeline to significantly ramp up over the next 12 months.
